Computational Biologist/Data Scientist

Position Summary

Sinopia is seeking a highly motivated and independent individual with extensive expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, and machine learning to join our team. This individual will play a key scientific role in expanding Sinopia’s computational platform and aiding in designing the implementation of follow-up validation studies. They will leverage new computational strategies and disparate data types to discover novel interventions for unmet medical needs.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Systems Biology with 0 - 3 years of relevant experience in an academic or industry setting (new PhD grads are encouraged to apply)

  • Strong background in implementing and developing machine learning algorithms

  • Background in developing and implementing pipelines for analyzing high-throughput “omics” datasets (such as genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, or proteomics)

  • Experience with developing data infrastructure and software; experience programming in Python, R, and/or C/C++

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Strong quantitative and problem solving skills

  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and efficient

Preferred

  • Experience with network and/or systems biology techniques

  • Experience with cloud computing and large-scale parallelization

  • Experience with drug response and pharmacology
